Gallie @ Nannup Music Festival
Celebrating its 31st year in 2020, the much loved Nannup Music Festival presents an eclectic mix of acts over the first weekend of March each year, set to the stunning bush backdrop of Australia’s South West and the small town atmosphere of Nannup; a historic timber town on the banks of the Blackwood River.
Since 1989, the festival – a community spirited event, operated by a passionate and dedicated team of Committee and Staff from the non profit Nannup Music Club Inc – has consistently proven to be one of the most welcoming and rewarding weekends of music around, and a much anticipated event in WA’s music calendar. It is an amazing and inspiring weekend for everyone and a special place to share a festival experience and authentic good times with your family and friends; a colourful celebration of original music, art, nature, community and diversity.
The festival highlights the best in new, emerging and indigenous music over free and ticketed venues, boasts an Emerging Artists Award and a Busking Competition, and offers a wide array of activities beyond that. Street performers, workshops, talks, poetry, camping, food and artisan markets, a sculpture walk and free activities for little festival-goers, all contribute in creating the “Nannup bubble”, where you’re invited to share, immerse and discover.
Nannup is part of Nyoongar Boodjar lands and is home to 14 language groups. Nannup town is situated on the lands of the Bibbulmun people and the north side of the Blackwood river (Bilyar Goorbalbilyup) becomes Wardandi country. The festival takes place during Bunuru – Second summer (season of the adolescence). We love, honour and cherish this place and we trust that it will be respected and nurtured far into the future.
See you in Nannup!
